What Do You Think of the New Apple iPad?

Apple has just unveiled its very latest product on the 27th of January 2010, called the iPad. It looks like a bigger version of the popular iPhone, Steve Jobs displayed the iPad at an event held in San Francisco. So what is the best thing about it? Well. It is powered by an Apple processor, called the A4, and the most shocking prospect is the price. Now the easiest way to describe the iPad, is hold your iPhone in your hands and stretch it until all the sides has a 9.7" multi-touch display, change the plastic back with an aluminium cover, and then you will have a iPad! Technology wise, it is a lot more interesting. The iPad is powered by a 1Ghz Apple A4 chip, and has a battery life of around ten hours, and includes a whole month's worth of standby time.

It only has a few ports (dock connectors), but WiFi and BlueTooth make up for that, some of the iPads models are available in 3g as well. The iPads come with either 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of storage space. Applications from the iphone will work well on here, there is no need to change or modify, as The iPad can either run iPhone applications in a small iPhone-sized window in the middle of the screen, or press the 2x button, that will change it from small to fit the whole screen.

One application which fills the full screen on the iPad and looks incredible, is an application which allows you to have videos embedded within the iPad, so it is made to look like a real newspaper! -photos can also enlarged when pressed. For text inputting on the iPad, this is very similiar to the iPhone which has a small keyboard for you to use and on the iPad, the same process has been applied but in a bigger version, which in effect is not very comfortable and easy to use, because you have to hold the iPad in one hand whilst typing with the other. Not very thoughtful of apple l must say.

I think the iPad software is not very good, frankly speaking. Everything looks a bit geeky, because basically all they have done is taken the iPhone's main interface and supersized all of the widgets. some of the applications have a Microsoft feel to them, The Contacts application looks like a real address book, just like Microsoft, so no prizes for originality there. But still a very good feature for this product.

The main screen, is filled with the same number of image icons just like the iPhone, and those images are even still the same size so there a loads of little white spaces in between each icon. Now one of the main factors of the iPad, if not the most important factor is the E-book aspect, so Apple showed off aspect called iBooks. You can buy, read, and organise your e-books in these feature and the store currently carries books from Penguin, Harper Collins, Simon & Amp; Schuster, Macmillan, and it even uses the e-pub format!

They also have created what is called "iWork" for this product (USD 9.99 per iWorks applications). In other words, they have created iPad-specific interfaces for Numbers, Pages, and Keynote, These interfaces, have some truly annoying chrome colours and choices of patterns. Also mentioned earlier, there is the 3G function as well, and Apple has negotiated a special deal with At&T for a price of USD 14.99 per month for 250MB of data, USD 29.99 per month for unlimited data, and both options include free use of AT&T's WiFi hotspots. These are pre-paid; you can cancel any time you wish. International deals will be in place by June, but since all 3G iPads are unlocked and support micro SIMs, you can get them to work anywhere.

And here's the big shocker...

Apple will sell the cheapest iPad for only USD 499 - which will have 16GB, and no 3G. The first batch of iPads will begin shipping in 60 days these are the ones without the 3G function, The iPads with 3g built in will be shipped around 30 days later. The accessories for this is a regular dock, and a full sized keyboard.

Now the bad part ha ha...The iPad does not have a camera on the back or front!, so multi-tasking is out of the window, there is a closed eco-system inplace, just like the iPhone. So this will be no good for personal needs, in other words you cannot download and intall codes to watch you favourite TV programs! In all this is a problem I think the iPad, because at USD 499 you would want it to make your dinner as well!

Top Five Questions You May Ask About The iPad Tablet PC

More than ever, Apple features stunned clients in the entire world with their particular sensational technology. First it had been the iPod, then the actual iPhone, after which came the iPod Touch. Will Apple yet again captivate all the attention within the American public using its newest device? The new 1/2 inch thick iPad having a 10-inch wide crystal-clear display show the potential to be able to transform technologies and boost the entertainment in the entire world.

Here is the top five questions related to Apple's most recent gadget:

What exactly the iPad is?

The iPad is in fact a bigger iPhone with new and improved capabilities. The principal upgrade around the iPad is actually its fantastic 9.7 inch HD screen. Shows, TV exhibits, pictures and also video podcasts all seem great on the particular terrific HD display. Smaller, pocket-size iPod device displays tend to be convenient, but enjoying movies with a tiny screen is often extremely irritating.

Why will I want an iPad?

Apple's iPad website gives the major explanation, "All of the included applications for the iPad were designed from the ground to use the large multi-touch screen and the sophisticated capabilities of the iPad. And so, they work within any angle. So there can be done a lot of things which you can't carry out on another devices."

Additionally, if you're used to viewing videos and images on a iPod touch or iPhone, the crystal-clear iPad display screen will topple your shoes away. It's a convenient, clear and high-definition screen; a key upgrade around any mobile device. Other tablets that you can buy have wonderful benefits too, even so the iPad machine is a top-notch device. It may also run a lot of the 140,000+ applications that work on the iPhone, giving consumers additional alternatives.

The iPad keyboard is easy to use?

If you are used with the top class touch screen on the Apple iPod Touch, you'll be ready for the actual iPad. There are actually two most important distinctions involving the iPad as well as iPod Touch. First, your iPad's 10 inch display is considerably bigger in comparison with its miniscule counterpart. 2nd, there is definitely no incorrect or wrong approach to use that display. In whichever approach you choose to use the device, the screen flips to suit your viewing angle.

The iPad is a phone?

Skype, Vonage along with other companies provide a voice service over the Internet that can work with the iPad 3G variant. However, the iPad's hasn't been designed that they are used as a phone. That's one particular big disadvantage for this sensational machine.

What will be the drawbacks of the iPad?

While it is the hottest device around the market right in this moment, but big authorities argue this it's wholly unnecessary for some potential end-users. A mobile computer is a lot more complete, providing complex online services, music, e-mail, photos, shows, and e-books, which the iPad offers. But most computer systems also consist of a digital camera, Windows software package capabilities, as well as other common various software. The iPad lacks most of these important capabilities.

The iPad Reviewed

The iPad is a brilliant concept: a computer driven solely by your touch. Since the announcement of the iPad on January 27, 2010, no device has generated so much hype. iPad rumors ranged from running Mac OS X to having a built in camera. This article will provide facts and dispel rumors. And with all the Internet Hype going on you sure will need to have the rumors dispelled and the facts outlined.

The iPad has a 9.7 inch multitouch LED (backlit) display, a pixel resolution of 1024x768, an A4 processor, 16-64 GB of flash storage, 802.11n Wi-Fi support and Bluetooth 2.1. The iPad comes in 2 flavors: a WIFI only version and a WIFI+3G version. The iPad weighs roughly 1.6 Lbs. Like its predecessors it has an accelerometer and runs on iPhone OS (albeit a slightly modified version). The iPad claims 10 hour battery life although the settings used to achieve that are not known. There are several criticisms with these features. Why was iPhone OS was used instead of MAC OS? Mac OS is not optimized for the multitouch display like the iPhone OS. Another criticism concerns the A4 processor. The A4 processor contains the same graphics chip as the iPhone 3GS, yet its only 400 mhz higher. Will the A4 processor support the higher resolution without bugs or crashes? The iPad is running on a 4:3 aspect ratio. This aspect ratio is great for reading books and browsing the web, yet it will be problematic for watching movies -- the letter boxing would be too big

The Criticisms. The Three big criticisms concerning the iPad are: its lack of flash, its lack of multitasking and its lack of a camera. The lack of flash is officially explained by interfering with the battery life of the device. Unofficially, there are several possible explanations. The first one guesses that Apple wants to retain a strong control of its AppStore. Enabling flash will allow users to get applications that are normally sold on the AppStore for free and thus undermining Apple's profits (no longer the $99 developer fee). The second guess states that Apple wants to be the herald of the new HTML 5 technology. Seeing the popularity of the iPad, developers will want to jump on the HTML5 bandwagon to maximize profit. Although flash is predominant in the web today, HTML5 will slowly eat away at Adobe's monopoly and nevertheless, there is nothing a good jailbreak can't fix. The lack of Multitasking is also an issue. Multitasking is actually already present in the iPhone OS 3.0, but it is only restricted to Apple's Apps. This is done for security reasons and battery reasons. An Apple Insider has announced that Apple has already announced the solution to the multitasking problem, perhaps the new "long tap" gesture will bring out a "task manger"--like interface. Once again, nothing a jailbreak can't fix (backgrounder+Proswitcher for the iPhone). Another concern for potential consumers is the lack of camera. One should expect things like this from Apple - a camera is something they would be adding to the Generation 2 iPad to promote sales. A camera shouldn't be the selling point, however for the consumers who absolutely need a camera -- a 30pin attachment camera is rumored for the iPad

The Good. The iPad was never meant to be a netbook substitute. A netbook is a small buggy device. The iPad provides a closed, fluid and stream lined experience. There are tablets that are technologically superior to the iPad (HPSlate and Notion Ink's Adam). However these devices are not optimized for the Mobile Platform. The HPSlate is running on Windows 7, an awkward choice for a touch oriented device. Notion Ink's Adam is running on Android 2.0, however it is run on a Pixel Qi screen (colored e-ink) -- not a good substitute for LCD. The iPad is a closed system, so no annoying bugs and viruses (imagine a virus on a Tablet). The iPad comes with access to an already populated AppStore. Whatever your interests are 140,000+ apps will surely suit your every need. The iPad sacrifices some of its Technical Features to provide an experience that someone as young as a child or not tech oriented as a senior can enjoy.

As of March 12th, the iPad could be preordered. Should you pre-order an iPad? I would advise against it. Wait a few days after the iPad's Official release (April 3rd for USA and slightly later for other countries) and watch a few videos to get the general feel of the device. Wait for all the hype to settle and decide whether it is your type of a device. Which version should you buy? I would recommend the 3G - there is nothing like having the Internet at your fingers, however if you plan to use the iPad at home, the Wifi version should do just fine. The iPad is a revolutionary new device. Don't be left behind

Top 5 iPad Accessories

You've seen the commercial - What is iPad? It's beautiful. It's magical. It's going to revolutionize the way we do things online.

It is such an amazing device for browsing the web, checking your email, listening to your favorite music, viewing holiday photos or even watching your favorite videos on YouTube. Yet beyond its simplicity, iPad minus the frills isn't designed for writing or real computing work.

That's why thousands of third-party add-ons and peripherals flood the market soon after it was released to make your iPad experience a little better. And below are what we think the must-have iPad accessories you should buy if you want to get the most out of your newest gadget.

iPad Dock

iPad is thin and nice to hold but for extended use such as when you're watching movie, a iPad dock is a handy add-on to hold it upright. Sure it does more just docking it on your desk for the right viewing angle. You can use it as a picture frame while it's charging or sync your iTunes library automatically and more. No doubt this could easily be one of the most-bought accessories. It currently sells for $29.

iPad Keyboard Dock

If you write anything longer than a few lines in email and don't mind the price of $69, buy this instead of the normal dock. It can almost turn your iPad into a laptop and allows you to do everything you can do with the normal dock. It also has a rear connector port to allow you to sync & charge your device and an audio out port to connect it to speakers, TV or video projector using a compatible cable (AV cable sold separately).

iPad Case

The iPad case is a beautiful black case with the Apple logo on the front. This case is made of a soft microfiber interior and when folded in just the right place, it acts as a stand that holds it at an ideal angle for watching videos and slideshows or typing on the onscreen keyboard. Whether you want to protect your iPad and grace it for more professional look, we recommend you to buy this original case which currently retailed at $39.

iPad Camera Connection Kit

One of the missing features of the iPad is the ability to transfer photos from your camera onto your iPad. Not anymore with Camera Connection Kit. This kit contains two iPad dock connectors: one that can read SD cards, and another that connects directly to your camera's USB port. When you use the connectors, it will automatically launch iPhoto and let you choose which images to import. If you want to use your iPad for pictures, this is the easiest way to get pictures onto your iPad. The camera connection kit sells for $29.

iPad Screen Protector

We all know how iPad is susceptible to fingerprints and scratching. If you're always on the road, it's smart to protect your screen and keep it in perfect condition with an iPad Screen Protector. Go for the anti-glare protective shield that guards against nasty scratches and general wear & tear from everyday use. You can easily buy it from any of the third-party online retailers for as low as $5 a piece.
